Free Alcohol and Drug Awareness Seminar Focusing on Youth and Teens

teens alcohol class

It is great to hear that a health insurance company is coming out with a useful seminar series that doesn’t’ cost an arm and a leg. Cigna has launched a free monthly drug and alcohol awareness series that focuses on underage drinking and drug abuse. The great part of it is that you don’t have to register for the course, so there is no one tracking your identity if you want to remain anonymous.

Each of the sessions is 45 minutes and it features an expert talking about alcohol and drug abuse. You can access the seminar by calling 1-866-431-5314, and entering passcode “602873.” They start at 12PM EST.
Here are the topics for the next three sessions:

  • Oct. 19: “What to Do if You Think or Know Your Child Is Using Drugs or Alcohol.” Guest presenter: Fred Muench, Ph.D., Director of Research, The Partnership at Drugfree.org.
  • Nov. 16: “Understanding the Developing Teen Brain.” Guest presenter: Ken Winters, Ph.D., Professor, Dept. of Psychiatry and Director, Center for Adolescent Substance Abuse Research, University of Minnesota.
  • Dec. 21: “Helping Your Kids Avoid Drugs and Alcohol.” Guest presenter: Ameila Arria, Ph.D., Director, Center on Young Adult Health and Development, University of Maryland.
